There is a wide range of intumescent coating systems available on the market, in a water-borne or solvent based form, which provide up to 2 hours fire protection to structural steelwork.

Waterborne systems are generally more economical but are weather sensitive and the building must be dry and weather tight for their effective use. Solvent based systems are fast drying and can be applied before the building is weather tight, for up to 9 months.

Systems can be overcoated with a compatible topcoat for decorative purposes, or to enhance protection against the environment.

Benefits of the Product:

  • Thin film coatings allow maximum use of space
  • Decorative appearance permits designers to utilise exposed steelwork
  • External systems can allow single fire protection to be used throughout
  • Lightweight coatings reduce overall weight of structures
  • Rapid sprayed application can assist construction programmes
  • Ideal for through fixing to mechanical and electrical services
  • Exterior durable when used with topcoats
